In 2020, sadly, the school had to close because of the Covid pandemic. The people of Mtitu are working hard to reopen the school in January 2022 and have ambitious plans, not only to reopen the school for children, but to create vocational training for young adults too.
It is planned to offer courses in Bricklaying & Concreting, Carperntry & Joinery, Tailoring & Garet Making and Hairdressing & Beauty. The innovative solution suggested is for young adults to train, then when qualified they will set up their own businesses and after three months of operation will contribute 10% of their profits back to the school so that the cycle of training can continue.
